Sandra is a highly-experienced academic with 25 years of experience in academic writing and editing, including peer reviewed journal articles, student theses, grant applications and academic policy documents. Copyediting / proofreading

  • Our proofreading and copyediting service is for mature documents. For example, you might need your work checked and corrected for grammatical errors prior to submission to a publisher, journal or grant funding agency. This service does not include suggestions for structural (organisational) changes to your work. Work in all disciplines of science and the humanities is welcome.

    Important note for research students:

    Academic integrity rules - as well as the professional guidelines published by the Institute of Professional Editors - mean that student theses can only be proofread and substantive edits cannot be made. Please get in contact if you need clarification.

  • Prices for proofreading and copyediting work are generally per hour at rates of $60-$100 depending on the nature of the document(s). Contact us for more details.

Structural editing

  • Structural editing is the process of assessing your written work and making suggestions that relate to the organisation of the text. Suggested changes generally result in reordering of your text and/or suggestions to remove sections or add new sections. You may choose this service if you are ‘stuck’ with a document and are not sure how to organise your work to best communicate your message. We are specialists in scientific and technical writing but get in contact to discuss options for work from other disciplines.

    A structural edit at an early-intermediate stage of writing can be very helpful for writers at all levels. Note that structural editing generally does not also include full proofreading or copyediting.

  • Structural editing may require assessment or research into the content of your document. Pricing is generally in the range $80-$100 per hour. Please use our contact page to obtain more details.

Full document edit

  • This service includes both structural edits and proofreading and copyediting.

  • Full document edits are charged at $80-$120 per hour depending on the complexity and/or technical detail of the documents. Please use our contact page to get in touch.
